My first solo effort

Some of you may know that i write record and mix music etc as part of a bands and as alone, for the first time ever, i am actually releasing a track which i class as a single which is written, performed and mixed by me.

This is a big step for me as i have severe hang ups and confidence issues about my musical ability and singing. so i'm hoping by doing this and other songs i will be able to overcome them and be a better musician overall.

I wrote the song a number of years ago, and was in a darker place than i am now, but i have spent the last few weeks reworking it, recording parts to make something that for once i am happy with.

Hope you like it, check it out here

Good afternoon, Rocky...

If that's to establish vocal confidence, then I'll assume you're now fully boosted. There's nothing wrong with your performance there; the playing, singing, mixing and production are of a level right up there with the best of genre. No false modesty to be had, no 'shrinking violet' apparent. Excellent job, lad. I'd love to know how to get that fat, thick, guitar disto sound.
Criticism..? No, you didn't ask for any, and there's nothing worthy of mention to criticise, anyway. Well done, and thanks for sharing. B)

the fat guitar came from having 2 guitars panned each side with some odd tuning on them, meaning that the power chord covered all 6 strings. Mark tremonti uses the same tuning for his songs. it sounds epic :)

Thanks; nice tip, good to know. Not much use for my jazz-chord melody stuff, then, eh..? I'll try it out next time I'm doing the 'garage' thing... :D
