Marlborough Jazz Festival - anyone go?

Marlborough Jazz Festival was on last weekend and after we played I went and checked out some other bands and there were some really good ones. Highlight of the day was a band called Protect The Beat. My understanding is that these guys are all top session musicians and boy could they play! Their music is instrumental jazz/funk and it really grooves.

The bassist on Saturday was Roger Inniss but I think he was a dep. Played Shuker basses and was awesome.

If you get a chance - go and see them play. I guarantee you wont be disappointed.

Roger is a fantastic player, really lovely feel. He is also a very good upright player.

Had a chat with him afterwards and to top it all he is also one of the nicest blokes that you could meet - Typical!
