iamtheelvy Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Ok string geeks, here's a query for you: I have a Fender Jazz (through body stringing) and a Musicman Stingray both set up with the same strings (D'addario 45-105 steels). In standard tuning, both are fine. Detune the Jazz however, and I lose all usable tension beyond a low D, yet I've tuned the bottom string down to a usable (just) low A on the MM. Both are the same scale length, so what gives? Is it the construction of the basses? Does through-body stringing make that much difference? Confused... Quote
