beely Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Hi. Can anyone tell me the best way to get access to the truss rod adjuster on a Fender Mustang? Would there be enough room to adjust it if I took off the scratch-plate? I can see the top quarter of the screw but I can’t see if there is a routed space in the body that would allow access. Or, would it just be easier to slacken the strings and take the neck off. Fewer screws I suppose. I am getting a bit of fret-buzz. Not much but I’d like to get rid of it. The neck is dead straight. Am I right in thinking there should be a bit of relief and therefore I should slacken the truss rod off an eighth of a turn or so. I have done this sort of thing before but never on a Fender. Only on my Ric, which I believe is a very different animal. Any info/advice would be appreciated. Cheers. Quote
bertbass Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Does this help? http://support.fender.com/manuals/instruments/Mustang_Bass_(1966)_manual.pdf Quote
beely Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Hi. It does actually. Think I'll just remove the neck, or at least slacken it off. Cheers. Quote
JapanAxe Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) Somehow Bert's link has got mangled. Full link is: http://support.fende...tang_Bass_(1966)_manual.pdf Edited May 9, 2014 by JapanAxe Quote
beely Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Yeh, I got the 404 as well but I found it on the Fender website. Cheers. Quote
brensabre79 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 My Mustang is a '68 competition stripe blue, and doesn't have a recess in the body unfortunately, so any adjustment has to be done with the neck off! Quote
beely Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 I'd sort of reached that conclusion. Shouldn't be too hard (I hope). Cheers. Quote
