Sarah5string
I've got a Shine SB55 5 string bass and to be fair have hardly seen any others!!! It's a cheap bass (£150 off ebay lol) but the sound out of it is fantastic and could easily rival better branded basses with higher price tags... I can't be the only one out there who owns a Shine?? Anyone?

paul, the
I preferred the tone of my friend's Shine Hofner copy to Herbie Flowers' jazz.
Sarah5string
I've had 2 now. Both 5 strings... and I've loved each one.... would happily buy a shine over anything else
Wooks
I saw a wicked looking green 5'ver I think it was on the 'bay that I was going to have a punt on...then I bought my Warwick corvette $$ instead.

bnt
I thought about getting one of their Professional range a few years ago, possibly to assuage my long-term GASsing for an 8-string. However, they don't seem to make an 8-er any more, and their current catalogue isn't as interesting as it used to be. Oh well. peted
A friend of mine had a semi-hollow birds-eye maple topped 5 string Shine. Sounded great but it was very heavy. Looked good from a distance but up close you could see that the neck pocket had huge gaps in it and the lacquer had been applied with a hose (very thick). All those negative points faded though when you saw the price, cheap as chips!
Galilee
I've got a Shine 5-string, it was my first ever 5 and I used it exclusively for a couple of years. Excellent thing and amazing value. I played a Shine 6 string at the London Music Show and that was brilliant too. Something ridiculous like £160 it was.
yorks5stringer
I had briefly a Shine Telecaster- type( OK, I know they were actually Precisions) 4 String Bass which cost around £60 and I sold a bit later for the same. Had 2 passive MM type pickups and sounded good, well made , no issues, just not into 4 strings now. It was a good solid piece of wood too.... Bay Splayer
well made for what they cost but weak pups, imo. i had this for a while but just couldn`t get on with 5 strings....
Stan_da_man
I used to own a Shne SB-56: Sold it as I could not get on with 6 strings - still a good bass though. I also used to have a Shine WSB704 before my sister bought it off me - better than OLP's IMO.

Jambo63
I have one of the Tele 4 strings - it is a little bit heavy - in a natural varnished finish. It plays not too badly but has a rocky sound which doesn't suit the Blues band I'm in, so have never played it live. I love its natural look. I don't have any pics of mine but the link below gives a very good example of what it looks like.
