JakeBrownBass
Working with a new electronic project at the moment so thought i'd share some pictures of my setup. We've got a Moog Little Phatty, Novation Bass Station II, Roland Gaia & a Novation Impulse all routed into a Motu Microlite Midi interface & Motu Ultralite MK3. This is all then patched into MainStage to control all backing tracks, synth patches & volumes etc...
xgsjx
That's a nice set up. If I had the funds to get keys, I'd definitely have the Moog & the Gaia. I'm in an electronic band, but I play bass. The keys player has a Mininova, a Tetra & a Virus Snow (& a couple of controller keyboards). No pics for you though.
AntLockyer
I'd love a Gaia or a Sub Phatty or both.

Angel
That looks like fun, I'd love to see what sounds I could get. I still have my trusty old Korg N264 for all keyboardy stuff. Must be very old hat by now.
Ktmman
I bought a 70s korg synth in a charity shop for £10 a few yrs ago .. It looked like the early moog, 2 octaves with an upstanding back with knobs and a load of little holes with plugs you could put in different orders.. It even had orignal cards to put over the holes with patterns of where to put the plugs .. I managed to get a sound out of it but thought it pointless so got my money back by flogging it on...... Just my luck and a few yrs on and all the old analouge stuff becomes sought after ... Saw same one selling for silly money ........ Edit... I just looked it up and it was a korg ms 20 Edited May 31, 2014 by Ktmman
BigRedX
Korg MS20 for £10! Can't ever remember seeing them that cheap even during the years when they were unpopular. I sold mine (which had been modified with a octave/volt input) about 15 years ago and got £450 for it which I thought was a very good deal. These days you're looking at about £1000 for one in good condition. Probably more with the patch cards.

It's a lovely little synth though :-)

Ktmman
Bigredex im totally depressed... Yes its true , i paid the grand sum of £10 for the ms20 with " patch cards" at " churches 2 gether " in chislehurst .... Few yrs ago now but certainly was in the last 10 yrs.. I jogged it on to a piano restorer that was in the workshop next to mine ... I will try to look him up and see what happened to it .... I never kept it as i couldnt see the point as it had no midi socket and i was in to programming drum tracks via sequencing software ... Also the only sounds i managed to get out of it were Dr who sound effects - .. £1000 eh .... - Edited May 31, 2014 by Ktmman
Ktmman
By the way , me being an old boy i remember this well .. I wonder how many of the younger generation that hear Stevie wonder songs on the radio like Living in the city , Superstition , realise that that fat synth sound was down to an englishman ... Zenitram
MS-10 prices aren't that high, around £350 to £400 for a really good one. In line with Ktmman's £10 bargain, I got my old MS-20 for free. It badly needs a service though. In that it's stopped working. Edit: hang on, I got the wrong end of the stick. No one mentioned an MS-10. It was the £10 thing that confused me. Edited June 1, 2014 by Zenitram
BigRedX
Which synth does the fattest bass sounds?
Any Polyphonic one where you can stack all the voices onto a single note. In these cases IME the virtual analogue synths tend to sound better as the oscillator drift is smaller, and therefore less likely to produce a phase point where all the voices are close to cancelling each other out. I'd recommend a Nord Lead.
Zenitram
Recent purchases: E-mu Proteus 2000. 40 quid. Amazing, amazing little thing, considering it's nominally a ROMpler. But it can do so much. You could write whole tracks with it, with some very twisted noises. Countless filter types with silly made-up names. And knobs to control it, right there on the front, with a matrix for 12 controls. Yet it looks so boring. Like a middle manager in a cheap machine-washable M&S suit. Korg Prophecy. 120 quid. Wow. Mental mono. It's like... like an eccentric maths genius wrongly locked up in an asylum, or something. Looks like a 90s spaceship. Novation Ultranova. 150 quid (new!). Very smooth and sophisticated, and seemingly rather polite. I've yet to delve much, but it's extremely routable (20 virtual patches, routing anything to anything), so I imagine it can go nuts as well. And it's an audio interface. And an Automap thingie. And bus powered. Yet it looks like a toy. Weird.
operative451
Ooh, lovely!!! Synth pop totally was the sound of my teens, i love it that you can now get really good analogue emulators than run on laptops, worb worb noises galore... I totally wanted one of those big lumps of wood with knobs on that went 'weeooo' when i was 12. I got a casio something or other, it got me started! Beautiful...
