Line6 Lowdown studio 110

I'm quite intrigued by the concept of a 1 foot cube weighing only 24 lbs and handling 75 watts

is it worth pulling the trigger on one?

Apparently it's really a modeling amp with the bonus of 75 watts & a 10" speaker attached

I currently have a Laney RB6... 15 inch speaker, weighs a heck of a lot and puts out some 165 watts if I hook up a satellite cab to it and 100 without...

now the Laney does sound good... however, I'm sick of humping it round and nearly putting my back out in the process, especially to gigs that really don't need all that power... I live on floor 3 of a block of flats that isn't tall enough for a lift :)

so does anyone else have experience of the Line6 then?

I've got a Line6 Lowdown Studio and love it for practice. I've used it many times in a rehearsal room with a well behaved drummer (not a heavy hitting metaller!) and it was perfectly fine. I've used it at a larger pub gig with full PA assistance and I found it great there too. My guitarist wasn't too keen though as he couldn't hear enough bass on the other side of the stage, but the DI sounded great out front. I've played a small pub gig with it where we only used our vocal PA and I don't think I'll do that again as it didn't really move enough air to project from the backline into the audience.

Hope that helps your decision making.

P.S. - I've also used it as a pre-amp plugged into the house bass rig for my metal bands and it sounds great too. The Studio has a pre-amp line-out on the back as well as a DI which is perfect for plugging into the Effect In or Poweramp In of a bigger backline amplifier.

I have a Line6 Lowdown110. It really is a fantastic little combo, wide range of tone, filled with helium for lightness, fits in ridiculously small spaces. I've only used it for practice so can't comment on its gig-worthiness.

thanks guys... pay day it will be then for doing the dirty and trading my RB6 in for the Line6

I normally play village halls, back rooms of pubs, church halls... we can't go very loud anymore because of noise curfews etc. and I think the Line6 would do well with my new electro-acoustic bass...
