dannybuoy Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Well, this is a first. Would it be a fashion faux pas to play this bass wearing jeans? http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Sandberg_VM4_Jeans_finish.html [Img]http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Sandberg_VM4_Jeans_finish_files/Jeantop590.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> Quote
lefrash Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I think Id prefer it if it had a different colour pick guard. Quote
IBWT Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Real denim... at least it will be soft to the touch. Quote
tommorichards Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 (edited) Sons of bitches stole my idea! Ive had this for about 7 years now. But to be honest, i think theyve done a better job..... Edited May 19, 2014 by tommorichards Quote
lapolpora Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Cool wash? Tumble dry? Or dry-clean only? Seriously, I saw this earlier and thought within a year of grubby hands all over it it would look disgusting. I wonder what finish it is underneath? Quote
lapolpora Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 That's a £699 option! One expensive pair of jeans Quote
BigRedX Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014
Would it be a fashion faux pas to play this bass wearing jeans?
IMO it would be a fashion faux pas to play this bass what ever you are wearing. *Shudders* Quote

franzbassist Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 (edited) I love Sandberg stuff, but the leather and now denim coated basses are truly awful Edited May 20, 2014 by walbassist Quote
thodrik Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 They really missed a trick by not having a watch pocket in the front to store spare picks. Quote
Musicman20 Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Why is it so expensive to have that option? Surely cheaper than paint/polish! What happens if you wear through? Could happen. Quote
Kev Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Truly bizzare, as someone comments on Mark's facebook post, that is going to look a complete mess if used by a regular gigger! Quote
Maude Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 It looks like it should be played by the Comfort fabric softener characters. Quote
basshead56 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Wont be allowed to play it in posh clubs then, even with a flash blazer I reckon you should be able to get it in pre-slashed as an option too, keep the pretend punks happy... Quote
Prime_BASS Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014
Why is it so expensive to have that option? Surely cheaper than paint/polish!
I assume it really doesn't, while paint can be sprayed on and left etc, there must be a lot of hand work involved in this, stitching the seems around the bass itself, sinking the bridge so it sits flat, the pickup cavities have no fraying etc, a lot of handwork has gone into it really, despite it looking terrible. I'd hate spill coke on it, how are you supposed to wash it. I like sand ergs stuff but some of it is terrible. I really like the gold and silver playing option they have now too. Quote
bakerster135 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 That looks disgusting to me! But then I do hate stonewash... Quote
Mudpup Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 That is gonna be stinking after a few months of sweaty gigs...... I have a Sandy that I love and I really like the relic finishes but those fabric/leather ones are truly awful imho Quote

tommorichards Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Im gonna say that your worries about it getting dirty are entirely justified. My denim bass ives used on and off just for practice over the last few years, and it has gotten quite grimy. So yeah, i think that this bass is more of an art thing than anything else, lest the player wants it to end up like the jeans of the motley crue gang. Quote
Wilco Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 There are always some really nice looking instruments on Bass Direct's website, which is what makes that complete turkey stand out even more!! I'm sorry, but that is truly horrible........ Quote
