Dubs Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I can’t work this out – basically some guy in America has decided to sell his Mark Hoppus (Blink 182) MIM Jazz on ebay, but…in 3 parts?! He’s selling the neck in one auction - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Mark-Hoppus-B...1QQcmdZViewItem The body in another - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Mark-Hoppus-B...1QQcmdZViewItem And then the tuners in another - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Blink-182-Mark-Hoppu...1QQcmdZViewItem ? ? Maybe it’s something in the water over there…or maybe he thinks he will get more money this way some how? I’d have thought that if anything he’s likely to get a lot less cash for this fairly common MIM bass by selling it this way. What a nutter Quote
Dr.Dave Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 In general terms. You can get more for some instruments by breaking them into parts. Vintage jobs with a few non original bits for instance - or modern ones with upgrades. Seen Wall Street?? Folk buy a failing company because they know that by selling off it's assets they'll make a profit. The machinery - so much , the land - so much etc. Same thing. Quote
