Samashton12
Hi Guys, I'd just like to thank the user SlapbassSteve for reaching out to me after my Thunderbird nearly met its end. After the incident and exchange of PM's, we met up & he repaired it. It went from this: http://imgur.com/a/hZVeU to this: http://imgur.com/a/zWwRC I'm honestly incredibly happy with the result. It may be rough but at least it vaguely resembles a Thunderbird again! Thanks, Sam
discreet
Hooray! An instant relic job. Just fill in the bare bits with a permanent marker - It'll be fine... Seriously though, mad props to SS. Basschat FTW!

BassTractor
Wow! Hadn't expected that. Still made to last then, eh? I suspect that in time you'll fill in the rough bits with wood "splinters" and colour them black. Just always play on dark stages, and you'll be fine. Samashton12
One of the Warwick strap locks I got with it failed at practice whilst I wasn't playing and it hit the floor from about waist height.. Must've hit a weak spot.

Must've hit a weak spot.
Oh man I'm glad it's fixed but that is one heck of a drop to cause that Was this a properly installed locking strap lock? If so, it takes the point out of it. Maybe contact the manufacturer
Samashton12
Yes, that's what I was driving at. Unless the bass has had some really bizarre mod, I wouldn't expect that to happen unless it was swung like an axe at a tree! I don't think the manufacturer would be particularly impressed, but I guess it depends whether you bought it from new as to whether they would be prepared to do anything about it. I just wondered if they were after market strap locks and the screws were substantially longer than originally fitted. If they weren't drilled out longer to fit, that may have been the start of the problem (if indeed it fractured at the strap lock hole).
Strap locks were installed fine and it cracked higher up in the body. It's also a used bass. Overall I'm happy, it plays like it used to and now has a little more character

SlapbassSteve
Cheers Sam, and thanks guys, glad to have been able to help! I'm in the process of setting up a bass/guitar setup/repair business at the moment, so it was extremely valuable experience as I'd never done anything like this before!
