Ive recently acquired an epiphone tbird from here, and as i want it to look more classic than new, im wondering if anyone out there has swapped the tuners from the small ones to the lollipop style ones?

Basically from this

To this

And if they have, what tuners did you use?

When I put chrome Gibson Victory tuners (basically Schaller M4S's) on my Epi neck I had to bore out the holes slightly, wasn't hard though: 3rd post down - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/233994-3-basses-85-gibson-explorer-79-martin-eb-18-warmoth-thunderbird/page__p__2453668__hl__martin__fromsearch__1#entry2453668 Guess it would be the same for the lollipop tuners

'Tis a nice bicentennial indeed above, looks typically "posed by Andy Baxter"

Lots of folk on Talkbass have tried this. It seems you would have to fan them out to avoid them hitting each other. A pitfall of the smaller headstock.
And those ain't lollipops either ;-)

There was, but the search function on TB isn't very helpful... I suggest sending a pm to Tbird1958, he seems to be the sage of all things Thunderbird on TB, and I know he's replaced the tuners before.
