Slaphead Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Hi Great to be back. I am looking for a FAL Bass Bin ( or Disco Bin), I used to have one and the sound was awesome. Does anyone know of one going that is intact? Please find attached word doc for reference. Alan Quote
iconic Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Wow FAL...now thats a blast from the past....didnt they make some cheap ' n chearful DJ kits that nearly every mail order catalog sold? memories of Garrard SP25 decks. Ps couldn't see an attatchment? Quote
Slaphead Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 Hi They did apparantley but I was more into bass playing. I got one for free that had been garaged for years and hooked it up to a Sound City 120 Watt Valve Guitar head ( the Pre Hi-Watt era) and it sounded brilliant, I let it go along with the Amp and now regret it and would like to re-visit the sound hence my request. I would like to get a sound city as well and there seem to be a few advertised. I did attach a Word doc but this seems to be left in the ether somewhere. Google has some images come up if you type Furturistic Aids Ltd into the search box. Did you have anything to do with FAL? ALan Quote
iconic Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 No, I had nothing to do with FAL but I used to like thumbing thru brochures....some other catalog names that come to mind were Wein and Eagle....I feel old! Quote
lonestar Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 My first bass amp was a FAL PA amp driving a 2x12 "custom made" reflex bass cab. It was very loud projecting the low end of my Kay/avon hybrid precision copy right to the far end of Green St Green village Hall. Happy days. Quote
Slaphead Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 Hi Yes they were happy days. I remember making speaker cabs and buying amps etc and doing a lot of experimenting with sounds, unlike nowadays where you just get the credit card out and buy them. The FAL bin had very good projection and seemed to give very good acoustic compression and was more effective than the electronic compression used now, and as you say very loud Alan Quote
