Legion Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 (edited) I got this in trade recently with the intention of moving it on as I need cash a lot more than I need another bass. Lovely custom shop 60's style jazz bass in NOS which is pretty much aged but not reliced. Sounds awesome and plays great, slightly chunkier neck than I was expecting for a jazz (which I like) which I imagine is the vintage neck profile. First time I've played a stack knob variation as well and I really like it. To be honest if I wasn't trying to clear a debt with a deadline I'd keep this. All case candy present along with the certificate. In as-new condition which the photos hopefully show. Weight is about 9.5 lbs which seems pretty typical for jazzes of this type. £1600 posted to your door (in the UK) Edited May 25, 2014 by Legion
Dingus Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 That slightly-chunkier -and-meatier than you might expect ( but still very comfortable) neck profile is indeed the vintage- correct profile for the very early Sixties stack knob Jazz Basses. Lovely bass , stunning burst, and bear in mind all the metalwork usually adds about six ounces or so to the weight, so without that this bass would be substantially lighter, too.
stingraybassman Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Absolutely gorgeous bass. Thats a great price as well!!
Dingus Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Worth mentioning that more recent Fender Custom Shop basses like this one have now got quartersawn necks, too.
Legion Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 I have a BC'er that's very interested and had asked for soundclips so I recorded 3 mins of noodling about to give him an idea. I figure it might be of interest to others checking it out as well: https://soundcloud.com/sakura-1-1/test/s-gz978 That was all recorded as follows: bass --> PJB superflightcase --> DI out --> Focusrite sapphire --> Ableton Live. No tweaking or any manipulation.
johnthebassist Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 This bass is pure badness. Check it out! Somebody's gonna have a very happy Bank Holiday weekend if they act quickly. If I wasn't buying a '69 Jazz Bass, it would most certainly be me!
karlfer Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Glad in a way, I was going to reduce my 2000 Hot Rodded tonight, to complete funding for this. Somebody is going to be very happy
