IBWT Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 (edited) Hi, I´m terribly GASed by this new model: It´s VERY reasonably priced, but I am concerned about the weight of the bass. I´ve tried a few EB3s over the years and they have ranged from lightweight (a Tokai copy) to heavier than a WW (a 70s Gibson), to just right (a 72 Gibson). I would gladly go for the real deal http://www.andybaxte...ails.php?id=687 if I had the £1850 Andy asks for it, as I prefer the maple neck, 4-way switch and more centered neck pickup, but it´s just out of my league. So, has anyone tried this model? Any impressions? Edited May 24, 2014 by IBWT Quote
theyellowcar Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I haven't tried one but if I remember they're going for not much more than a MIM Fender, and come with a hard case. Seems nuts to me. Bother forum member bought one of the non-reverse T-birds (also going for silly money) and reported a few QC issues that might be being aware of before buying. Quote
Lozz196 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Wow, they look great, the cherry satin finish is extra-nice. Quote

IBWT Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 Well in Thomann you can see that the back of the body and neck is finished in plain black, and satin finish is way cheaper than high gloss in nitro. Also I guess we're a bit used to Fender's rip offs, such as 700€ for an extremely basic, 60 year old assembly line design manufactured in Mexico. Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I nearly bought one, but was sadly crushed by how affordable it was. Quote

King Tut Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Ooh gasssssss. . . . . . And I have a Gibson dealer down the road . . . . Quote
gsgbass Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I had an SG Spl. that I returned, because the frets were way to rough, and high. Other than that, it did play well. I sold a Fender Precision I really wasn't playing, and purchased an SG Std. Walnut. Same size, sound, and playability. The frets are right on though on this SG Std. They may not all be like this one.
