Clarky
These have the reputation as one of the best and woodiest sounding mag pickups for DB. I only bought it a month or so ago for a belt-and-braces approach to amplifying my downsized Kolstein travel bass but have since found an Underwood works beautifully. Hence I am moving this on. It came from Gollihur's in the US and cost me about £150 or so including import duty and delivery but will let it go for £110 posted as the buyer will need to get some 3M Dual Lock tape to attach to the end of their bass fingerboard (I used it all and it's not reusable). Should set you back less than a tenner on Amazon. Clarky
This is ideal for playing at very high volumes and the microphonic design means it picks up fingerboard noise too so it's favored by rockabilly types as well as loud bands Here is quite frankly a very scary video of a man playing one! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0ALgX8WnwY Edited May 27, 2014 by icastle Link fixed. Clarky
Would a tenner discount to the advertised price tempt anyone for what is reputed to be one of (if not the) best magnetic picksups for DB?

Clarky
Beedster texted me to say he wanted it, sorry Pete. If he changes his mind will let you know
stingrayPete1977
No problem let me know either way, saves me getting in trouble with the wife just before we go away! whats your thoughts on the schaller 411? Bear in mind im not the best player in the world, I need a quick gig volume solution mostly blues and slow rock numbers really.
Clarky
Sorry I've not tried the Schaller but they don't have the highest reputation (even if they are stalwarts of the scene for decades). The Krivo is supposedly the best (which is why I got it!) along with the harder-to-find Biesele and Pierre Josephs String Charger pickups. Here in the UK, a lot of people like the Kent Armstrong mag pickup Should Beedster change his mind, you will be first to know!
stingrayPete1977
Good stuff, best not rush into the schaller then, I would not have drilled my fb either! thanks

3below
I bought a Schaller from this very forum. I have found it really very good - Peavey Tour 700 and Barefaced Dubster used at some volume. Sounds good to me and no feedback issues. I constructed a plywood fingerboard extension that is clipped onto the fingerboard with cable ties. The Schaller is screwed into that rather than risk fingerboard damage / issues. YMMV.
