Hi all,

I'm going to get a jazz pickup (bridge) installed on my P-bass and was just wondering if anyone had any advice/recommendations for a pot and (side-mount) jack socket with plate. I know nothing about these things, so feel free to fill my head with info... :)
Fanx.

If you're asking advice on the pot and socket then I guess you've not worked on a bass much?

If not I'd suggest the routing to fit the pup is possibly the biggest stumbling block here: to get a good neat job. If you're happy to do the routing then I or others here can help on the elects. If not, why not get a luthier to do the whole thing?

I would go for a CTS (250k) pot, I would also change all pots while you're at it so they match. For the jack: Switchcraft. These pots and jacks are pretty much the standard for decent basses. If you need a jack plate I like the Gotoh ones, but that's just personal preference.

If it was me I would fire Ki0gan a PM he could make you a great high quality loom at a reasonable price

Yep, Ki0gons wiring looms use CTS pots, and I`m sure - hope not speaking out of turn here - he could assist with the rest.

Thanks chaps. There are no luthiers as such down here (I'm on the Isle of Wight) but there are a number of repairers/techs who should be able to do the routing for me - that's something I'm not going to attempt, not even on a VM Squier. :)
