Thunderbird Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I have gone through tons of bass learning books in my time and normally get fed up or find them really hard going or boring but now I have a bass blues book written by Ed Friedland and I am really enjoying i and I think I am learning something at last so I shall be sourcing some more books from Ed wish I had tried them sooner so all I have to say if anyone else struggles with other books check out the Friedland books I think they are great cheers Ed Quote
Bassic Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 i worked though his blues book an thought it great too. Having a better understanding of shuffle rhythms and those classic turnarounds etc has been a great help. Its amazing were those 1 4 5 patterns turn up in everyday songs. Some classic standards in there too. Well worth the few quid if your into that genre of music Quote
JuliusGroove Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I was gutting my bookcase the other day and found his Slap Bass DVD in amongst the books.. It was a bit above me when I originally bought it but now I reckon I can give it a crack! Quote

GonzoBass Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 "Building Walking Basslines" is another one of Ed's books that I can highly recommend. Quote
