Year Of Birth Jazz Bass - 1960. I'm quite happy with the result. FYI - it was ready about six weeks before I was expecting it. Mark at Limelight is an absolute pleasure to deal with and nothing is too much trouble for him. One of life's good blokes. They are few and far between, as you know. Anyway I'll shut up and let the pictures do the talking... Edited July 28, 2014 by discreet Quote

bh2 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Good god... fantastic! I'm green... as green as a green thing from Greenland. Quote
ead Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Clearly 1960 was a very good year Mr Discreet. I'm in discussion with Mark about one of my own after a few wobbly moments in respect of the Betsy-a-like on the website. What was the spec on yours may I ask? What level of 'distress' does your lovely bass represent? Quote
gary mac Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 That really does look the part. Savor the wait Mark Quote
As close to a 1960 Jazz as possible - stacked pots, aged Olympic white, tort/rosewood, clay dots, screw holes for ashtrays and mutes (but no ashtrays or mutes), brass ground strip from bridge pup to bridge, period decal, reverse tuners, threaded-barrel bridge, hardware tarnished but not overly rusty... I'm not a fan of really heavy relics, so requested a 'moderate' relic - with a bit of added mojo. Could have been on the road for a while, but may also have been in your Uncle's loft for a few years... Edited June 4, 2014 by discreet Quote
skej21 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Yet another beautiful instrument from Mark! Really nice. I keep trying to forget about mine until it is ready but these threads aren't helping :-S Quote
JamesBass Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 It's rather beautiful! It's making me want to order mine right now! Quote
bh2 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Hmmm my YOB is 57... I thought the closest I would get is a RW Precision (Burst/Anodised). No sponds at the mo... still got an orange fretless P to pay for! Quote

Bassman Sam Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Cracking bass mate. Watch you don't ding it. Quote

discreet Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014
Looks superb, how much did it cost?
Around £1000. About a twentieth the price of a real one... Quote
discreet Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Just found this pic on t'interweb... this is a genuine 1960 Jazz. Quote
Geek99 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Wow Does he make the bodies and necks ? If not where are they from ? If so, what woods are they ? Quote

I will post a full review ASAP. Quote
Clarky Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 (edited) Looks great Mark. if I can make one tiny suggestion? A real tort plate from spitfire-whatever-his-name-is (check out the "wheer has all the decenttort gone" thread) would make your bass complete and IMHO indistinguishable from a real McCoy. Looks great as it is, but I think that would cap it off See here: http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__2460800 Edited June 5, 2014 by Clarky Quote
