If I can get to it, i'll bring along my 2009 MIJ Steve Harris signature model with the new SPB-4 signature Steve Harris Seymour Duncan pick ups
Alder, Maple (heavily lacquered), D'Addario Nickel rounds, 250k pots in case you needed to know all of that

This is a very cool idea. Would be quite interested if someone brought in a sub £100 pbass copy just to mix it up a bit.

Someone is bringing an Encore - I don't know how much that cost but it probably isn't much more than £130. I am bringing my second hand Squier Affinity which I got off gumtree for £50. Admittedly the only stock parts left are the body, neck and pots.

A guitarist friend of mine just picked up an Encore in great nick for £20. Can't knock them at that price!

You should get one into the test and see how it fares.

I wish I wasn't so far away so I could enter my Fender Nate Mendel signature into the game. Looking forward to seeing the results though!

I'd be interested to hear opinions on how a passive P/J with the P pup solo'd compares to the real thing...
I'd be interested in seeing how my Warwick Streamer PJ would stack against a P. That can be played passive.

I also have a Wishbass if you want a real red herring in the mix. The only thing is the Wish is fretless so it would stand out for that alone in this blind test. :(

Lozz I can bring along my G&L SB1 for something a little different but still essentially a P.
I offered up a Westone Thunder 1 elsewhere, as a kinda 'something a bit different, bargain basement but essentially a P'.

It wasn't included in the list, so I figured it was 'real' P's only. Mick, lozz ?

I'm only familiar with the 1A so I can't say. Might be worth bringing it along to compare - depending on how many others we have. PM Lozz to see??

Well although this started out as a Precision Test, the real deal on this is the Precision pickup isn`t it. So I`m quite happy for non-Precision looking basses, so long as they`ve a Precision pickup that can be soloed/played passive.

Noooooooo!!!

Tonewood alert! Tonewood alert!

If we extend the test to too many basses, the results will become extremely confusing IMO. If we were doing, say, a Warwick Corvette test, I don't think I'd like to see other models included in the test even if their pickup configuration were to be JJ or $$ like most Corvettes.

Just to mirror Happy Jack's message above: Nooooooooo!!!! (mine has one extra 'o' and exclamation mark).

Just stick to Precisions, at least that's my suggestion. Otherwise you're introducing too many variables and it just ends being a test of 'which bass sounds best'? Rather than 'which Precision sounds best', which is a more interesting outcome IMO.

But it sounds like a fun experiment, regardless :)
