xgsjx
Well done. Can't help but think of what the "25 ways to upgrade your strat" are? For most strat players I know, removing the strings would be 1st priority.

Regarding your Stat comment, it actually made me laugh out loud. I think it's OK for me to do that, as I also play guitar. I'm still chuckling as I type this - the memories of 40 odd years, have just flashed by me and quite a few came to mind! Chuckle!

BigRedX
Tis a good piece, and well deserved. I had an Ibanez Explorer like that once PS: Is it true Lars Mullen is a pseudonym too?
No he's definitely a real person who's really called Lars Mullen. I met him at one of the Birmingham music shows when he was working the stand showing the Andreas guitars and basses. And now I've had a chance to read the article, that was most entertaining. Good to see a collection of mostly basses and more so that they weren't all big US makes. More like this please G&B if you are reading.
They didn't include what I consider to be one of the useful tips for any guitar with a bolt-on neck; which is to slacken off the neck screws very slightly when re-stringing, tune up to pitch and then tighten the screws back up. Makes the neck/body join just a bit more positive.

It was discussed that if the article got a good response, I could do Part Deux! There are some really interesting other guitars and basses, that missed out on this one. So, you never know - if enough people like you, make it known that they enjoyed it. . . . . . maybe do another one, next year. Cheers. I'd stopped gigging because it had become such a soul destroying experience for me, I was starting to play more guitar & keyboards & I sold some bass gear to buy other stuff - the Odyssey was one of the things that went as I thought that was it for me & bass playing. Wish I had a pound for every time I've thought that.... I've owned lots of supposedly 'great' basses - none of them were any better than the Odyssey & some were nowhere near as good despite their high price tag.
Mate, I fully get what you are saying and in some strange way, I feel for you. It is a real joy to play - so much power, tone, presence, feeling - I could go on. Pete had some work done on it, when it was around 35 years old, just to keep it the way it should be - I am very proud to be the current custodian. Lars said that if there was a good response to the feature, we could do the rest of them, another time. There would be more Guitars and Twins, in that one but still some great and as yet, unseen basses on the blog. Would love to do it again - easier the second time around, as I now know what's involved! There is a lot of work goes into it - don't know how Lars keeps up with them all! Cheers.
