Hi foiks,

Looking for suggestions so I'm wondering what tunes you like playing on a fretless?

(I've had a peek and I can't see a thread that's similar to this one - please direct me though if I'm just repeating one!).

Cheers!

New york minute is quite fun, but I always end up playing Visions of china when I am not thinking about it:

I Feel like making love and I can't get enough of your love - Bad Company

A Pastorius one which springs to mind is The Dry Cleaner from Des Mois (Joni Mitchell) - the live one is fretless at least I think.

Predictable, but Paul Young, Wherever I Lay My Hat has to get a mention. Pino at his best.

I learned Everytime You Go Away today, blooming heck that took some work, i only just got back into fretless and think I'm hooked.... :)

I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down - Paul Young (Pino)
Babooshka - Kate Bush (John Giblin)
Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel (Tony Levin)

Not originally played on fretless, but I like playing both Steely Dan's Josie and Rikki Don't Lose That Number without 'speed bumps' :)

I always love to play this song by world/fusion/jazz band Djabe.
Not really hard to learn (unline bassist tamas Barabas's other lines) and sound great when played along.

Music for Chameleons, Gary Numan (not Alan Partridge)

Walk on the Wild Side - Lou Reed
Some Haircut 100 stuff (can't remember song names but they were fun)

You're probably thinking of Take That Situation' as one of the Haircut 100 tunes (Played by Pino I think, who also played on Heyward's 'Blue Hat for a Blue Day' and 'Whistle Down The Wind')
