TPJ
I have a BXS EUB and want to replace the Spiro Weichs with either silver slaps or Honeys to darken the tone and feel a little. I have an old set of Honeys that I was going to try oin the bass and when In came to put the first string on (G) I noticed there is a huge amount of peg length, so much so that it covers the winder and then has 4 or 5 additional wraps on top. Can I cut the peg ends down a bit without it damaging the string? The speaking length from nut to bridge is 41 inches. There isn't much of a tail peice on this bass and the peg box is pretty small and close to the nut.
daflewis
Hi TPJ, Yes, that's no problem, as long as you're cutting in the silk area and not into the playing area. It might be worth popping a dab of glue (evostick or similar) on the end just to help stop it unravelling. Cheers, Daf
