Sarah5string
What do people recommend? Not sure what I'd need to be able to hold my Dean explorer but most of the stands I've seen wouldn't fit it.. Any help would be much appreciated!
Dr.Dave
I'm sure some of the 'hanger' stands on the market would work but I lay my Explorer flat on top of my rig , as the top bits are inside a nice soft Warwick rack bag. How do you get on with the Ex ??? Better than I do , I hope !!! Can't reach the first couple of frets on the bloody thing half the time and I'm only just shy of 6ft. Wondering how you transport it too. Mine goes in an Ex guitar gig bag , which is too short so I cover the 2" that stick out of the end with a pair of walking socks! '1000 mile' socks , if you want an endorsment !!!
ARGH
Try an extra long Hercules,BUT they are fragile,Ive never had one I didnt break, they dont like heavy useage. BEWARE OF PLASTIC PARTS!!! other than that Doc's 'Hanger' stand idea is the best yet. Co-incidentally is the REALLY pointy 'Dean' Available still, the one 'Schmier' from Destruction used? http://musical-instruments.pricegrabber.co...oduct/sv=title/ I'm 5ft 9 so height's not really a problem but I end up having to bring the neck up to play the higher frets so I've got it at a 45ish degree angle. That and I've got long fingers

I have two GS414B's and they are very stable - I even hang my Stag upright stick on one with no problems, even on bouncy stages .. Mark at Bass Direct (Poptart on here) was doing a Basschat deal on his - free postage I think .. waynepunkdude
I don't know how much one of These will cost but it is very good at holding pointy guitars.
OldGit
Ah Sorry Didn't see the "cheap" bit in the title ..... You can make your own version of the Bass Grabber strap to tie it to your amp with a few IKEA cable velcro straps .. that's about £2 including a hot dog and coffee ... However... a good stand will always pay for itself. One ding on your bass will cost you way more than £20 when selling it, and a good stand will be with you over many years and basses so a good stable stand that can keep your basses as safe as possible on a rocking bouncy stage is worth every penny ... tauzero
I use these goose-neck stands which also have a security bar that swivels across the neck. Work better than Hercules stands for headless basses. The swivelly cradle is great for the Tsais and the Warwicks, none of which are symmetrical. Tee
I've got a guitar stand which holds my thunderbird. I think it's a Stagg (could be wrong). The bottom bit swivels, so it fits/supports the offset shape. It wasn't much.

ianrunci
be careful if you buy a hercules double stand. I have one and I have to have it fully exteded to use it with my warwick and find that when I hang one on the other side the bottom of the body touches the legs. Another problem with them is if you have a bass on one side and a guitar on the other, the fold out back supports are in an off position. because you have to fully extend it for a bass by the time you have slid the back support up the pole to support the guitar, its almost on the neck of the bass
Sarah5string
Oooh it arrived today The dean is close to the floor but that's more to do with the body shape. Will upload a pic in a sec Can't complain for £15 though!! Bargain!
