karlfer
Help please, anybody know how to get the intonation done with one of these bridges? Thanks in eager anticipation, Karl. BOD2
Well it looks pretty much the same as an acoustic 6-string bridge. http://www.lutherie.net/saddle_angle.html What, if any, adjustments are available depend on the actual bridge construction. Is the white saddle piece fitted into a pre-cut groove, or can it be moved, held in position by string tension ? Does any part of the bridge move ? karlfer
Thanks for the reply BOD2. None of the bridge moves unfortunately. Having looked at you link (many thanks) my brain is fried, think I'll give the bass a miss Cheers, Karl.
3below
You may never get 'perfect' intonation. You should get reasonable with the string gauges the bass is specified with. If you have a string that is way out I would suspect a faulty string. I have spent ages trying to sort bad intonation until I found it was a duff string. Rare but it does happen. Is this bass available, I have could add to my collection then again other half will divorce.
karlfer
It's not this bass. There was a black one for sale on FEEBay, only 30 mile from me.
bertbass
Rather like that actually. Wonder if they do it left handed?
Fender HMT, Fender Japan from about 1990 to 1993. There were 2 versions, the one I'm considering has a kinda Washburn hockey stick headstock. Rare in right hand, don't even know if they did a leftie.
fingerz
If it can't be made to play in tune, surely it's not fit for purpose??
icastle
The intonation would be factory set with a particular gauge of string and action - any variation from those parameters and things get difficult. It is possible to make a compensated bridge, but it takes a lot of fiddling and you wouldn't want to do it more than once.
Thunderbird
Not that I know much about this but could the bridge have worn down and also if it is like an acoustic bridge I am led to believe that you can only get the intonation as near as?
