I've just noticed sonething odd and mildly unsettling about the VM77 neck I just put on my Precision.
It has a first fret side dot.
Now I've seen it, it cannot be unseen, as it were...
Weird...

You're never going to be left wondering where the first fret is!

ooh yes so they do, I took a peek at mine....not having another bass with O.E. blocks is this unique to the VMJ 70's maple n maple.

My Geddy Lee jazz bass also has a first fret side dot so it's not just the squiers. I thought all basses that have a block first fret inlay also had a first fret side dot to match? I didn't realise that was uncommon...

I just checked all the basses I have at home and the only one to have a first fret dot is the VM Bass vi.

It must be a VM thang.

Only time will tell if it will bug me ................ now you've bleedin' pointed it out!

The other blocks/binding necks I have or have had didn't have them, but if the Geddy has them, maybe someone somewhere took a more general decision to start including them.

Just to disturb you even further, when you think about it don't you think it's a bit odd that there's a block in fret one anyway? (runs away, laughing manically) :D

(I suffer as well from this general issue as I got me a VM Jazz)
