I'm not familiar with this Korean built model. But, the number is high which usually indicates a desirable bass :)

If I remember correctly, the seller has been discussed on here before. And was described as not the kind of people you'd want to have an argument with. (For pickup, go behind the Bargain Booze shop).

Edit: I've done a bit of research, and it should be worth several times £100, and should be a bargain. Unless there's something wrong with it of course.

If that was near me, I'd probably be 'round the back of the booze shop in a flash, regardless of the ongoing downsizing. Really silly bargain, someone get it bought, even if you just want to flip it for a few bob.

The C prefix on the SN indicates Cort, so it'll likely be very good, if my Cort-built Ibby EDA900 is anything to go on.

Jon, Hi.

My SR900, looks nothing like that.
Is that an SR900?

Am I losing touch with SR Models?

:)

I googled, and there are different models of SR900. I found an ibby forum thread where someone mentioned all the SR900 variations that had been introduced and then discontinued. These apparently would have small differences, which could explain why the ebay one might look different from Flat Eric's base. One notable characteristic of the SR900 is the thru-neck, and while it's less obvious with the black finish, I can see stripeyness in the ebay bass's headstock.

The bass here looks a bit similar: http://basschat.co.u...5-ibanez-sr900/ Did the £100 ebay bass have barts too? Surely those pickups alone would be worth £100.

EDIT: "Best Offer Accepted"?!?!?!?!!?!?!?! Even more edits: According to goofbid, the seller accepted an offer of £85!

EDIT: Not an SR900 for £100, but a Fujigen SR800 with a very low starting bid, http://www.ebay.co.u...=item19eee0cbcf and reasonable postage.

And it was mine until oldslapper and I traded. It is an absolutely cracking bass. Pencil thin neck, superb build quality, great sounds.

Haha, I am the winner 'bidder' on that SR900 - I bought it because I'm looking for something cheap, decent and light.

Collecting this week so I'll let you know whether it was the bargain it hopefully appears to be!

Glad it was someone on 'ere!

If it's a good 'un but you decide you don't want it (in a few months after all my house-move b0ll0cks is sorted out, preferably!) you could make an easy tenner on it by flogging it to me - been regretting selling the 2 SR800s I had for some time now... :D

Fair point, I just thought a tenner might help towards the postage...

Okay, so a few more details as I wind down from a pretty crappy week.

I couldn't make it to collect myself, so arranged for a chap to go and get it for me from Shiply - that's a fantastic website and if you persevere you can often get a quote that's the right price. I did and three days after collection, it was here. The driver said the people he collected from were friendly and no drama, so all pretty straightforward.

Realistically, the van should have had a biohazard sign on it, the bass was that filthy. Seriously, beyond disgusting - I can only imagine that it was used to stir a slurry pit for the last few years.

So, after about three hours worth of cleaning (took everything off that could come off), a nice new set of strings and a full setup, we have this:

And it's really rather tasty. Bartolini pickups, through body stringing and a through neck all mean that the tone is VERY nice. I've been able to get the action down nice and low without any buzz with just the right amount of neck relief (gnats todger, anyone?). All the electrics work great and the EQ is very effective.

I'm rather taken with it - I really want a nice light Jazz so I'll be watching to see if any trades come up as I already have the active Ibanez thing covered, but for the total paid (£85 at auction, delivery, strings and my time) I'm a very happy bunny!
