jcrangle_1992
I'm interested in possibly buying a Spector bass. However, I don't know a lot about their range and am not sure which models would be the best to go for. My price range is roughly £500-£1000. Any help would be much appreciated. mikeh
Well if you want a Bolt on get a ReBop, or if you want a NT get a Euro LX. Both excellent basses.

Mikey D
I have a Spector Rebop 5 in the for sale section...I can't comment on the neck thrus, but his is a great bass. As I said the only reason I am selling is that it doesn't really get used as I play fretless mainly and I am moving so a lot of my things are getting sold. spinynorman
I've got a pre-2004 Rebop 5, which doesn't have the fancy finish, just a plain slab of alder. The neck is great but I didn't get on with the Tonepump pre-amp, so I replaced it with an Aquilar OBP-1. It is a lovely bass to play, but it does come across in look and sound as quite aggressive, so if you're not in that kind of band (which actually I'm not) it mightn't be the right choice. cetera
Make way for Cetera!
I'm here.... I'm here!!! I thought I heard someone calling.... Best value for money must go to the Spector EuroLX range. The build quality is up there with the US models, hardware is heavy duty, gold plated etc and active pickups are EMG. The Tonepump preamp takes some taming but if you know what you're doing it's a sinch! The tone is to die for.... plenty of mid punch with a solid fundamental and sparkling highs. They're capable of anything and they look sexy as hell! Good luck in your quest!
Welshbassist
I'd love to get my hands on a Euro 5, it really seems like my kind of bass! I'm not sure what's the biggest dillema though - actually finding the funds or choosing a finish! They're all so very very beautiful. 4000
I had a Euro 5LX briefly; when I tried it in the shop I actually preferred it to the USA models I compared it with, and not by a small margin either.
niceguyhomer
Did a gig with my new to me Rebop 5 yesterday - what a fantastic bass. Growly, powerful and punchy as hell. I used to own a particularly nice Euro 5 and foolishly sold it because at the time, I couldn't do it justice with my sh*tty technique. I've had a few lessons since then and now I'm comfortable on 5 strings - I spent most of the gig kicking myself for selling it.
Machines
A lot of people have had that bass Al .
bobbassguy
I bought a Spector Legend-4 ( http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics.../9/6/396496.jpg ) last year after 7 years of playing various Fender/Squier P- and J-basses, and it became an overnight favourite of mine. I play a blend of rock and metal (Alice in Chains, Pantera, Tool, etc.) and it adapted wonderfully to those styles, with great tonal control. A few too many pots for me, but there's no doubt that they could produce a tone for any style in the right hands, with some tweaking. Not to mention, it's dead sexy, has good weight balance, comes in several finishes, and feels great in the hands. A great package for only 300 quid. Hope this helps! Was in PMT on Saturday - thought I might have seen you there. Best shop in the world that.
Machines
What time ?! I was there about 1.30 for an hour or so... Played just about every bass in there .
niceguyhomer
It would have been about 12.15 to 12.45 - we went into the city centre for some lunch then in that giant silver pie they call Selfridges. Just missed ya mate. Did you see that 2 string Sandberg?
Machines
Yeah they've had it a while.. the Sandberg CNC machine had a mine of it's own and produced about 10 of them. Rather than waste it... they made it a promo bass ! Plays well surprisingly but playing octaves are a pain . It was really quiet (in terms of people) when I was there, more like a Monday morning than Saturday afternoon ! Was it Big Dave you spoke to ? Looks a bit like this... with a goatee:
niceguyhomer
I didn't really speak to anyone. I just handed over the cash for one of these brilliant pieces of kit...

I've got the single version, but want a double. Was it the Salford PMT you went to Al? That Euro 5 was a stonker, beautiful thing, and what a sound !! Best low B I've ever heard. Can't wait to see the new Rebop, hopefully next Saturday in Orrell.
niceguyhomer
No Russ - it was in Brum. I'd just picked the Rebop up and fancied a sneaky look in PMT when I saw these stands. It was £35 for the double and £45 for the three way one. It'll be great to see you on August 9th, Mike's coming too. I can give you the money for that pedal. Rayman
Only if you still want it mate, if you do, smart, if not, I'm happy to have it back. See you at the gig.
Lee-Man
I must say my NS4 has grown on me no end, I always fancied one (big doug wimbish fan as a kid), my Sadowsky NYC's are my gigging basses, but this NS4 gets plenty of time for lessons and home. In fact just cut a few tracks on the new Hanging Mickey album with it. Any way some porn:

TDM
I was in Reverb (Sound Control) today, guess what? With their big ass sale on, they've got Spector Euros going for £500! Not Rebops, proper neck-thru Euros! Too bad I have no money though.
