Bilbo
Is that how you tune your 3 string bass?
No - I think it is the music theory for Drum and Bass - 'Oh, C and D....'
UglyDog
It certainly is. But be careful, you might injure your knee. Dr.Dave
My own thoughts are, if you need to read an article on how to play bass in a band, you probably shouldn't play bass in a band.
I'd argue that if you are in a band and don't read an article you come across regarding how to be in one then your ego and sense of self importance are probably too weak to be in one ! Humble chap that I am , I didn't read it. I had some flunky do that for me. Edited June 21, 2014 by Dr.Dave
KevB
"That way, you can still be part of the performance in a song that simply doesn't need a bass." I do not understand.
Believe it or not there are some songs that do not employ a bass guitar. The implication in the article is that if you play other instruments there may be certain tunes where you could use your other skills rather than just miss that one out. That was my interpretation anyway. And it makes sense. I just don't play any other instrument to put it into practice.
