dr.harry Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I've just acquired a 5-string Energy (in need of more TLC than yours). These wooden Status necks are the bee's knees. Very slim front to back. Never go out of tune unless you knock a tuning peg. No duff notes anywhere. Sustaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnn. And don't be fooled by the 'soapbar' pickups; They have two coils offset front to back, think single-coil 'Jazz' pickup with a hum cancelling coil built in. Minimal tone control, but that's what your technique is for ;-) (you can always fit an East pre if that's your thang) GLWTS
dr.harry Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 And don't forget to put an ad on statii.com as well
timhiggins Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 cheers Harry, i couldnt agree more I've had this one from new and its been well looked after. I thought about a john east but the status electrics sound to nice to mess with ! I'm only playing jazz basses these days so it doesnt get played... meant to say it comes with original status gigbag
hamfist Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I loved the old Energy I used to own, bigtime. Can't for the life of me understand why I sold it. Those Hyperactive soapbar pickups are the dogs b0ll0cks too.
mcc Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I had a 6 string of these and loved it. Super fast neck... I was to good for me so I passed it on to a pro and he has been playing it since. The EQ is a bit limited, but nothing you can't fix on your amps. Pity it is not a 5 string... good luck with the sale.
timhiggins Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 Cheers mcc ,I always liked the simplicity of these[ blend ,volume, tone ] i think
