Bassy Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 (edited) Hi, i'm relisting this bass for sale again, as my Shuker build is nearing completion. 2001 US Jazz Deluxe V, alder body with the now discontinued (cost Fender too much!) Pau Ferro fretboard which has a tone between ebony and rosewood. 3 tone sunburst with tort scratchplate. Original Fender 18v preamp- vol, blend, bass, treble, mids- also i had it fitted with Nordstrand NJ5FS single coils (they are a split hum cancelling design) and a Badass V bridge, fitted by the Gallery. This bass has a great sound and feel, the Nords made the bass sound fantastic, much, much better than the stock pups. Lots of growl and midrange punch, also fitting the Badass added more sustain and bottom end. It is in very good condition, as you can see from the pics, no dings or scratches. Comes with a Ritter gigbag. Asking £780 (New this bass would be £1500 with the mods) It can be collected from Finchley, North London or the City. Thanks. Edited March 21, 2009 by Bassy
P-T-P Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 They still do Pau Ferro http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0194660720 on these. Think they've stopped using it on the American Standard V and the Mex V
Bassy Posted July 23, 2008 Author Posted July 23, 2008 Just had a look at your link, looks like it's only rosewood and maple on fretboards now. I think the pau ferro has become harder to find over the last few years and therefore too expensive for Fender to use. "... maple or pau ferro rolled-edge fingerboard...." But then the specs say Rosewood or Maple. Someone in the Fender Web Dept. did some copying and pasting without paying attention lol

stewartmusic Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 If this is still around in a few months, expect a P.M from me lovely bass!! do the pictures make the sunburst tone seem darker than it is 'cause all the Fender Deluxe V I have seen are the lighter shade which I'm not to keen on, the reason I like yours! have a bump just now and hopefully you will get a sale sooner rather than later but eventually an offer from me will arrive..i hope!! Dara
Golchen Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Hmmmn, this looks interesting if it's still up for sale, I quite like the thought of a Jazz bass at the moment. I'm just posting so that I can locate the thread a bit easier!
bassbluestew Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Me too, when I sell my G&L I intend to buy a "super" Jazz, but this already has some of the mods I'd do, except I want a natural finish and a maple neck with block inlays and leds on the top. Just trying to work out if I could do that to this bass on my budget. But nothing will happen in honesty until the G&L has sold or gets traded for this one !! lol . Quite by coincidence I have just asked Jon Shuker for a quote, hopefully I'll get it before I retire !! S
