lojo Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Ive a set of Flats which I cant identify the make off, all stings have a blue wrapping on the ends Anyone know ? Thanks Quote
Beer of the Bass Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 What kind of blue? Both Ernie Ball flats and D'Adarrio Chromes have blue silks (royal blue, not light blue or navy), and the Chromes have multi-coloured balls. Quote

chrismuzz Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014
They sound like D'Addario Chromes.
He must be playing them through a pretty loud amp if you can hear that Quote

lojo Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 Ok thanks everyone, I'm going to put them on a P bass and try them out tonight, was considering buying some La Bella flats, but these found in my bits box might hit the spot. Quote
ash Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 La Bellas have quite a high tension compared to D'Addario - I have D'Addario flats on my Precision and they sound and feel great. Quote

Can't we just live together in peace and harmony?? Quote
Maude Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I don't want to live with anyone who has green balls! Quote

paul_5 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Won't someone think of the children? Those delucious, crunchy children... Quote
Silvia Bluejay Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 D'Addario Chromes, definitely. Oh, and - best thread derailment of the week Quote

Silvia Bluejay Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Forgot to (re-)post these - D'Addario Chromes on a 5: Quote
iiipopes Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 (edited)
La Bellas have quite a high tension compared to D'Addario - I have D'Addario flats on my Precision and they sound and feel great.
Depends on the gauge. La Bella now make a lighter gauge to go with their traditional gauges. Edited June 30, 2014 by iiipopes Quote
Biaeothanata-Bassist Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 D'addario chromes are the nicest flat wounds I've used by far. I've tried the LaBella deep talking flats and Rotosound Monel ones (the Steve Harris signature set) and they were all far too tense for my liking but the D'Addario ones had perfect tension and had a lot of punch to them Quote
lojo Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 Thanks for the replies, I've had them on a while now, and the E and A really do thump though my mark bass, but the D and G sound really dead in the mix. Quote
