akai mpc1000 sampler

Recommended Posts

Death of my PC means I've got to sell this. It'll be going on ebay next week if there's no takers.

This is a classic sampler/drum machine, these have been used by countless hiphop/techno/electronic artists. More info here and here. I've upgraded the memory to the maximum of 128MB, and it's also got JJOS OS1, an alternative operating system which is more stable than the original and also adds loads more features, including grid edit of notes and direct audio recording. Costs USD40 normally. Also comes with a 1gig CF card for saving your projects. It's the newer black version.

£380 to you fine gentlemen. Paypal accepted if you pay the fees.

I think this deserves a bump. I have one of these myself, an original blue one with the RAM upgrade and an internal hard drive, but the standard Akai OS v2.11. I'm going to hang on to mine for a while, since I think this is a future classic. It's not just for hip-hop: it makes a very good sampling drum machine for more conventional applications, and it has enough power, memory, and sample recording quality for complete songs with lots of long samples (e.g. whole bass parts, not just notes).

I haven't used it live yet, but I think it will come in handy even if I'm working with a drummer, since it can be triggered or started/stopped by footpedals. Or just have it near me, so I can trigger live samples for any reason. (Handy for those Rush covers, methinks.)
