Hey folks!

Sadly this baby isn't being used as much as I'd love to, due to not jamming or in a band- so my little 40W has taken the limelight and I don't want to have it collecting dust or generally ageing with no use or appreciation.
I've owned this amp for around 4 years now and I hold it close to my heart as the best amp I've owned and a truly underrated Marshall Bass Amp.

As far as I'm aware, this is an all valve, Marshall bass amp from 1981-83, making it 32-34 years old this year!
It's old by age but it's still an unbelievable force. The sheer fact it's a LOUD amp with clarity and the EQ is second the none.

I, personally love valve bass amps and especially for a serious rock/metal/thrash/grunge rig. It's got a lot of Bottom', smooth and varied mids and the High has that *snap* to it that cuts through the mix like a hot knife through butter.
On the volume side of things, I tend to put it between 2 and 4 on the dial, loud enough and then everything else to 11 ;)
(It's a Marshall! I had to slip it in there)

Absolute cracking amp and has served me well in the studios and at home practice and jams with friends.
The condition is next to new for its age.
Had some new valves about 18 months ago and still going strong.
The output is 100W but VALVE, so this thing will blow your guitarists tiny amps away and make your drummer want to play louder.

The cabinet, is a straight 4x12, not angled. Which houses 4 Celestion cones. Check the pictures for specific details.
Comes in the same condition as the amp, with casters making it glide with ease.
Again, for its age, it's really holding it well and for a bass amp- It's not falling away from its hinges as I expect some cabs these days would- at 30+ years old.

Price:
I'm looking for £____ (check start of topic) as it's a full working amp: ready for the road, studios, homes or even practice sessions. It's been well looked after with only ever valves changed.

Trades:
I'd like a 5 string (pref 35" scale)
classic styled four string basses
full amps: head and cab or combos.

Looking for collection from Eastham, Cheshire (CH62)
Feel free to bring a bass to try it first and I'll have the kettle on ready too with an array of biscuits to tempt you with.
However, I can deliver within an acceptable range at buyers expense for fuel there and back.
UK only- sorry!

The only signs of damage are the corner bracket of the amp head and the corner of the cooling vent, both parts easily found and cheap to replace.

I'm amazed this is still available - as much as I love modern amplification and old school SVT's and Bassmans - the older Marshall valve bass stuff is unbelievably rewarding.

Borrowed one of these cabs for a gig in a little blues club in Manchester around 30 years ago - with my Trace Series 6 head and Status SII, the best live bass tone I've ever had or heard - 'punched beautifully formed bass-holes in the back wall.

Lead guitarist in my band has a JCM800 (original 80's stock) and it sounds incredible! I've often thought about how good it would be to have a matching bass head, but my back goes into spasms just thinking about it. :(

Great kit though.

Hi mate, that will be a fair bit older than you think. 1992 is the model number rather than the age. It looks like an 83-85. The letter on the serial number stamped on the back will tell you the exact year.

Also the speakers are 12'' so it is a 4x12 cab.

Lovely things they are as well. Best of luck with the sale.

I did think it was older but seeing the model number, I assumed I was wrong and the number was intact the year,
Just tweeted a pic to Marshall Amps for more info and actual facts on the amp.

Many thanks

Hi. This is pre-83 'cause the head has vertical inputs. The cab has four 12" speakers which were also available until 1983. So I'd say this is 1981-1983 half stack.

The cab model is 1935B and the head model 1992 as someone already said. Both part of the JCM 800 Bass series.

2 tweets and a picture to Marshall and no reply yet, practically a useless and Ad based Twitter account -_- .....

Anyway, I'll edit the post with the estimated years but thank you very much for your help, much appreciated.

I've got an identical amp here - I was told mine is from 81 if that helps.. It's very loud and really rocks. I sometimes toy with selling it and buying something smaller but if I buy another amp I think I'll still keep this one. Very cool amps.

Amen brother, I'm really surprised it's not gone yet. An amp built to last, already 30 years old and I guarantee, in this condition, many more happy years out of it!! :D

Indeed, I used to have a jcm800 lead head and that was bough around 1983, despite it not working and having been partially dismantled people went nuts for it on ebay and I sold it for silly money, but then the marshall lead heads from that era are very sought after, not so sure about the bass stuff though.

Perhaps a matter of what defines a good amp or guitar depending on which instrument you play. Ident say this because I won one or that I'm trying to sell one but this amp is severely overlooked and forgotten as to what a valve amp should be... Whether it has the Marshall name on or not.

I'm surprised I've not had many guitarists enquire either, some valve bass amps are sought after by the old 6 stringers, like the Fender Bassman :-/

I've an '84 version with the horizontal inputs, but the same circuitry as yours (the circuits changed in '86 to cut costs apparently).

Built to last and easily the most rewarding and responsive amp I've ever used, great bits of kit. Good luck with the sale, amazed it's still here as they rarely come up these days!
