For some reason I was unaware of Cradle of Filth's latest album, which came out last year. It is utterly, utterly brilliant. Certainly up there with Thronography, Cruelty and Midian.

Cradle of Filth - The Manticore and Other Horrors

You opened the windows and played loud music?
Sorry, but I wonder what the fekk is wrong with you!
You should've exchanged those neighbours with people of taste long ago.
C'mon lad, on the double ...
And don't be soft on them now!

Ah no, they're generally OK. A couple of doors up have a party and band in the back garden every couple of years. Now then, lets get the full rig running

I wasn't even aware of this solo album though I'm not a huge Flower Kings fan so their side projects tend to pass me by (I have some Karmakanic though) and liking what I'm hearing so I may have to tracks this down on Amazon or somewhere.

[/quote]Kaipa is another of his (along with Transatlantic of course)

Another of the FK solo projects that I like is Hasse Froberg Musical Companion

Oh yes I'd forgotten Kaipa, I do have some of theirs as downloads, In the wake of evolution's a good track. I'll look into Froberg's stuff too.

Fancied some RAWK in the sun today, so it was Metallica ('Unforgiven') and Sabbath ('Heaven and Hell' - just love the part where the guitar leads in to the fast second part)

This is really interesting . I hadn't heard of this band before . I'm a big fan of Mark Egan's playing , and this trio sounds really fresh . I like the angular sound and the way the guitarist seems to be channelling a bit of Mahavishnu - era John McLaughlin in places . I will have to investigate further .

It's really a really good cd. I'm just playing 'Truth Be Told' by Mark Egan with Bill Evans, Vinnie Colaiuta & Mitch Foreman which is also very nice. I've been a fan of Mark Egan since i saw him in 1978 with Pat Metheny and have been lucky to have seen him with Elements and also Gil Evans. One of my favourite bass players.
