Guest Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Drum machine and cello driven psychedelia - sounds weird but it really works - from 1982. Also, this is possibly the earliest example of anyone using scratching as an effect in a song? Quote
Barking Spiders Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 I'm 100% in Scandinavian electronica at the moment mainly Lindstroem, Biosphere, The Field, Trentemoeller and Ugress. Some cracking basslines on the Ugress albums though I suspect they weren't done on the bass guitar. Nevermind, they still pulsate Quote
kendall Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 All Hail The Yeti - I saw these guys supporting 36 Crazy fists the other week, cracking set, loads of energy and nice guys to boot. They took the time to chat with me and signed my CD....yeah I know - I'm too old to be acting like a teenager but sod it - their bass player was spot on! They have become a favourite on my running playlist. All Quote

Frank Blank Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Sleaford Mods have made me realise that there was Crass and now there's Sleaford Mods, practically everything between has been a waste of time... Quote

Does "practically everything" include Flux of Pink Indians and Butthole Surfers? I like those. Quote
discreet Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Nothing - I'm in an anechoic chamber. 1 Quote
bartelby Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Earlier today I sent a mate a link to some weird Korean hip hop. He told me to listen to Dälek. So I did. Now I'm listening to more. I can hear shades of Scorn, FRET and JK Flesh in this. I now have several albums to source and get. Quote

I’m just having one of those silly ‘nothing else matters’ moments. Flux had, at various times, mates of mine playing for them so they get a pass. I never really heard Butthole Surfers but I was once sitting in a van backstage at the Reading Festival waiting to load out when my fellow tech jumped out having spied Ice-T, “I’m gonna shake that dudes hand” he said excitedly. Ice-T gave him a look and said “Not now man, I gotta see Butthole Surfers”. I blame the wearing of a white biker jacket with tassels, never a good move in any circles. 1 Quote
josie Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Eagles, Long Road Out Of Eden. Always appreciated the subtle but cutting political comment, but this is the first time I've listened with good headphones and actually heard the basslines. Simple, perfect. Quote
Frank Blank Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Man I’m enjoying Tune Yards at the moment... Quote
Horizontalste Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Alice Thompson's Solo Piano, no bass but a great way to unwind after a busy night shift. Quote
Barking Spiders Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Over the last few days it's been all back to back Hardfloor, 90s German pioneers of the classic squelchy 303 acid house sound though they're still going strong Quote
radiophonic Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Felt / The Splendour of Fear. Newly reissued and beautifully pressed. They should have been huge. Quote
Dood Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 I'm listening to the (blatant plug) brand new album from the band Ostura called "The Room" which is available to buy, download and stream from this very link: https://umusicmena.lnk.to/TheRoomFP Featuring, of course myself, my long time dear friend Thomas Lang, Marco Sfogli, Arjen Lucassen, Michael Mills (from Toehider and Ayreon) and these rather awesome lovely people below.
