What on earth is going on with that acoustic - it's upside-down and strung normally - I'm really thrown by that. World Party - under-rated and forgotten about. 1 Quote

Was a real shame, was a fan at the time, Karl is re-releasing all the back catalogue on vinyl currently, Bang was the 2nd release, came out on Friday. 1 Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 I'm listening to some recordings my first band made - haven't heard them in about 20 years. The sound of a Status Barracuda into a Trace stack via an Ibanez Phat Hed pedal. Made sense at the time 😂 Quote
Old Man Riva Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 Ronnie Wood from 1974, with the wonderful Willie Weeks on bass... Quote

And I think Bob Geldof might do as well, but I’m not Googling him because I don’t want two years of YouTube Boomtown Rats recommendations. Or even two minutes of YT recommendations for his solo stuff. 👎 Quote

I know Jimi Goodwin from Doves plays a right handed righty-strung Precision left handed. And I remember seeing Andy McCluskey from OMD playing a right handed Jazz bass right handed but it was strung lefty which took me a minute to get me head around. Must be more common than I’d thought? Ace T by the way 👍 Edited March 28, 2021 by meterman 1 Quote
upside downer Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 (edited) Lee Pomeroy plays upside down too. As does (or did) surf guitarist D i c k Dale. Which must mean it's time for a gander again at this performance on 'Later'. Edited March 28, 2021 by upside downer Profanity filter ahoy! 1 Quote

NancyJohnson Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 This morning I'm on a delicious playlist of Motion City Soundtrack and Justin Courtney-Pierre. For the unitiated, the first time I heard Motion City Soundtrack they reminded me of what The Police would sound like if they'd started now and added another guitar and some quirky keyboards. Since their (temporary) breakup, singer Justin Pierre has done a couple of solo things and fronted the quite wonderful Farewell Continental. I'll say this unquestionably, if you like these two tracks, you'll like everything. The second video below is worth a watch just to try and work out a) how they did it and b) how they got porn-actress Klio Valentin to do it. Quote

DaveFry Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Was playing with the dog in the garden the other day when a passing seabird sang the beginning of " Swinging Safari " so I tried to play it later on my upright in the kitchen . I couldn't quite remember all of the middle 8 so I looked it up on YT and had a pleasant reminder of what a fun bassline it had : - Worth a playalong once . Quote
