I just read that he wrote 39(!) bassoon conciertos but 2 are unfinished - it's not known exactly why he wrote so many for an unusual instrument. https://www.naxos.com/mainsite/blurbs_reviews.asp?item_code=8.570798&catNum=570798&filetype=About this Recording&language=English#:~:text=These included the bassoon%2C for,of which are seemingly incomplete. Like the blurb alludes to, a lot of composers had wealthy patrons who they'd write stuff for, these were often "amateur" players of a particular instrument, so commissioned pieces for that. The well known Mozart K191 was I believe created for a nobleman who was an amateur bassoon player. Vivaldi was also a priest if I remember rightly, and had a pool of very accomplished young players from a girls orphanage who he wrote a lot of stuff for.

Quantz wrote approx. 250 flute sonatas and 300 flute concertos whilst employed by Prussia's King Frederick II. Guess which instrument the king played 😁

Baloney Balderdash
Just discovered this Japanese bass and drums duo, kind of sounds like some odd crossover/fusion between Primus, Mr. Bungle and Captain Beefheart, most of all I guess really a bass and drums only version of Mr. Bungle :
