I've just started converting '60s & '70s vinyl 'Greatest hits of...' to CD to MP3 so I can learn the bass lines for a pub jam session - early Stones, Who etc. Should have done it years ago - stuff I enjoyed listening to, but never learned to play.

All this talk of Robert Palmer and Mel Collins (in the King Crimson 8 thread) got me thinking back
First: Alan Bown:

Then: Elkie Brooks and Vinegar Joe:

Touch of Grey by the Grateful Dead.
They are not a band I've ever spent any time listening to before so it's a time of discovery for me.

Only just got a copy of the first album by Polica, Give You The Ghost recently, and had a cheeky listen to new album Shulamith. Gorgeous production and innovative use of percussive timings. Bass player Chris Bierden is very central to the overall mix too which may sway some interest, and no six string slingers anywhere in sight!!
