KevB Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) Thin Lizzy's Renegade album lined up on the ipod to listen to cycling home after work today. A rather overlooked album in their history I feel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvIcpPhVpNM Edited March 24, 2014 by icastle Link fixed. Quote

jazzyvee Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 H-Gang by Donald Fagen. I'm learning it just because I love the bass line on that track. It's one of those tracks I'd love to play on a gig but something highly unlikely to happen. Jazzyvee Quote
Bobthedog Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Buddy Guy - My Time After a While. As a true newbie, I love this simple bass line. Great choon too. My kind blues Quote
Mark Dyer Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 If this is 'what are you listening to that you are currently learning', then it's 'Driven to Tears' by The Police. Mainly because our drummer saw the Robert Downey Junior/Sting live version on YouTube and got all excited about it, so now it'a going in the set. Quote

Dad3353 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Here we go, another longish night. This never fails... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldoaglz7Qcg There are threads here on 'tone', or sparsity in bass lines, or playing what's on the disk. This ^ is, to me, what it's largely all about; it's all there. Not only the bass, of course. An immense structure, with an infinity of variants, pulses, movements, resolutions, re-launches... I could go on, and so it does... I'll listen to another version later on, or tomorrow. Never tire of it... Quote
