Captain Rumble Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Humble Pie - Thunderbox ....... Brilliant band Quote
Ashweb Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 A bit of a guilty pleasure this... Just started listening to The Pretty Reckless on YouTube, especially the tracks Going to Hell and Take Me Down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmtbg5b7_Aw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQpZv2r8fb4 I can appreciate the music and the ability of the band with a singer up front who has an incredible voice (and who writes a lot of the songs, too IINM); but watching the videos - I don't half feel like a dirty old man... Graham Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017
Currently listening to Mastodon's new album "Emperor of Sand" Wasn't sure on the first listen as not quite what I expected, but an excellent album. Been putting it on every chance I get for the last few days
It's not bad is it? Better than the last two records. If you like that, the new Ohhms record - The Fool is very good Quote
xgsjx Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Been listening to Jamiroquai's new album for the past 3 days, it's rather good. Quote

Grangur Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Chicago - Chicago II Not exactly a recent release, it has some great bass and variety. Quote
blue Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Bad Company I don't know why, but Paul Rodgers is such a pro guy. Blue Quote

Skol303 Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Seaford Mods ...certainly not everyone's cup of tea. In fact I imagine that many here will hate them But I personally find them very refreshing - a band (if you can call them that) that's actually saying something at a time when it's most needed. Raw as hell and exceedingly British. I love it. Quote
Graham Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Pharoah Sanders - Africa Came across it serendipitiously as I liked the name, cracking stuff - I'm not overly familiar with jazz, but this is great Quote

Great stuff, but not expecting our singer to dress (or undress for that matter!!) the same way as Taylor Momsen!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txBfhpm1jI0 Quote
jensenmann Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 New CD arrived: the Winery Dogs (Sheehan, Portnoy and Kotzen). Good songwriting and kickass musicianship. Quote
bodmin Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Just dug out my copy of Sad wings of destiny by Judas Priest, one of my favourite albums in the late '70's. Haven't heard it for years, I still love it. Quote

BrunoBass Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 (edited) I'm in a major Manic Street Preachers phase at the moment. I seem to do this every now and then, rediscover a band that I love but haven't listened to in a while and hammer the **** out of them for a few months. Anyway, I watched the Manic's film Escape From History on Sky Arts earlier this week and have listened to nothing else since. I've loved them since the first album and I've got the entire back catalogue at my fingertips. Why James Dean Bradfield isn't given more credit is beyond me. Incredible power and range to his voice, amazing guitarist, and the enviable ability to contort some pretty oblique prose into structured lyrics and strong melodies. I'm a big fan. Japhet Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Waiting for Columbus - Little Feat. One of the best 'live' albums of all time in my opinion. Quote

Roland Rock Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 A bit of Afro/psychedelic/disco/funk in the form of William Onyeabor - funny, funky and odd. Also quite impressed by Venetian Snares; quite Squarepusher but more orchestral. Interesting stuff. Quote
