Elfrasho Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Pronto mama - any joy. Well worth a Spotify check out. My favourite Glasgow band. Quote
Rich Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017
Why James Dean Bradfield isn't given more credit is beyond me. Incredible power and range to his voice, amazing guitarist, and the enviable ability to contort some pretty oblique prose into structured lyrics and strong melodies. I'm a big fan.
Aye. It's a shame Nicky Wire is/can be such an irritating tit though. Quote
fleabag Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Mike Masse . on the right. Occasionally has Sterling Cottam ( on the left here ) accompanying, and sometimes Jeff Hall on bass Only covers, but dammit he's good. bassbiscuits Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Currently listening to a lot of Marc O Reilly. Brilliant Irish/French singer/songwriter/frontman, who sounds like a heavier version of John Martyn, and alternates between delicate finger picked sparse soulful tunes, and full-on stomping folk/blues rock. My band opened for him in Leicester last week, and they were storming, as well as being a thoroughly good bunch, so I snapped up the back catalogue of CDs there and then. www.marcoreillymusic.com I genuinely don't understand why this guy isn't more famous. BassAgent Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Got this on vinyl last week and I had my amplifier fixed so playing it right now. What an amazing dub record. Love it. Quote

skb558 Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 11 Tracks of Whack - Walter Becker. Not for everyone and not as slick as Donald Fagen's solo outings but I keep coming back to this. Some great bass and I really like Becker's vocals although they are an acquired taste. Quote
oldbass Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 The Three Degrees...Philly soul compilation. In a word WOW!!....those three women in my mind are totally underrated. Love that Philadelphia sound. Quote

BrunoBass Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 Nadine Shah's new track 'Out The Way' is excellent, imagine 'Faith' era The Cure backing PJ Harvey. Quote
Daz39 Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 Broadsword and the Beast by Jethro Tull. Been on a real Tull fix lately; very eclectic. Quote
bartelby Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 (edited) Mohammed - Pèkisyon Funebri Saw this duo at the Supersonic festival over the weekend. They were bloody marvellous, a smidge under 114dB and low and slow. Here's a little grab of a frequency analysis: Edited June 20, 2017 by bartelby Quote
mikel Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Started off listening to "The Rag Pickers Dream" album, Mark Knopfler. Have not listened to his solo stuff for a while. How can one guy be so talented? Great songs, great guitarist, and the lyrics.......the guy tells some wonderful and heartfelt stories, even more so If you are a Geordie. Made me dig out all my solo Knopfler stuff, so thats my listening sorted for a couple of days. Quote
