thepurpleblob Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 I just bought the deluxe edition of Mansun's Attack of the Grey Lantern. From back in those '90s. I'd forgotten what a great band they are... Quote

Roland Rock Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 (edited) I love the Tune Yards, some really inventive pop; quirky and sometimes verging on the psychedelic. This song is more old school, and well worth a watch all the way through. Superb voice, music with space, and a definite early Zepplin vibe imo http://youtu.be/UNkP-mbBMLo Edited November 10, 2017 by Roland Rock Quote
mikebass456 Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Nightfly by Donald Fagan. Best track for me is Walk Between The Raindrops - such a cool bassline..........? Quote
NancyJohnson Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 XTC. Everything on shuffle. Makes my day go fast. Quote
discreet Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 'Join The Boys' by Joan Armatrading. Now that's playing, and what an unbelievable groove...!! Quote
Frankieabbott Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Matt Monro. Pitch and diction perfect....and sumptious orchestrations. Better than Sinatra in my humble opinion. 1 Quote

kodiakblair Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Tom Waits just lead into NOFX. Now it's Catatonia. Don't you love random playlists Quote
progben Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Got the new Primus album on. Somehow they've managed to do something even more weird and left-field than usual... Seems like a bit of a marmite release, but despite some issues, I always love Les' playing. Quote
mikebass456 Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Currently listening to the new Dead South disc. Check out the video for the track called In Hell I'll Be In Good Company - bass player playing a cello like a normal bass. Very cool....... Quote
Balcro Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 First came across this while looking up turntables on youtube. One click led to another and then oooo.. I wouldn't have bothered normally, too many screeching guitarists to avoid, but this just has it. Stevie Ray Vaughan.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zB10bRX0Hcw Quote
lowdown Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Been listening to 'Vince Mendoza' a lot recently. His composing and arranging chops are terrific. Here he is conducting the fantastic Metropole Orchestra. Quote
Bigwan Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Soften the glare. Not my usual type of stuff I have to say, but Ryan Martinie is an absolute demon! Quote
Little Dragon Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Prophets of Rage. That is a bass player who doesn't get lost behind the mix. Quote
Fisheth Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 One of the bands I've recently booked has just put out an EP, I like it a lot, very theatrical... Reminds me of Alice Cooper in lyrical content, certainly more hard rock than metal and for some reason, the verses of the first track sound like they could be part of an Industrial album (KMFDM, etc) at least the drums do, it's also insanely accessible which is partially the reason for the booking. but it works for me. What are you guys checking out right now? Always wanting to hear more music! Quote
