lawetlatla Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I've been wanting a candy red Stingray with a matching headstock, but recently it has been discontinued, so I was thinking of getting the headstock custom painted. But if I were to spray paint it myself I would lose the logo, so is there a way I can paint it on again or stick it on? Quote
kevpilk Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 don,t do it , it will probably devalue the price of it , Quote
Dingus Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 (edited) You could contact customer services at Ernie Ball Music Man and ask for a replacement decal, but they will probably say no. Might be worth a try , though. If you are thinking about spraying the headstock yourself, then think again, unless you want to end up with a botched job that could ruin your bass from an aesthetic standpoint,. It is a tricky job that requires specialist skills and equipment to do a decent refinish . To get the colour and final finish on the headstock to match that on the body is no easy task , and you would need the overall quality of the paintwork and finishing to match that from the EBMM factory, which is second to none , otherwise it will look incongruous . Don't do it. Edited June 26, 2014 by Dingus Quote
throwoff Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Sims quoted me around 200 quid to do it on a Stingray. Quote
dlloyd Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 The logo on a stingray is screen printed, not a waterslide decal, IIRC. EBMM will not sell you another decal. They don't sell any aftermarket parts, unless you exchange an existing part. So they'll replace a neck if you send them the existing one, but only for an identical neck (i.e. they won't exchange an unpainted headstock for a painted one or vice-versa) Quote
