Dan_Q
Morning All, I just thought I'd pop on and say hello I've "had a go" on basses for years, but I recently decided to give it a try properly, a change in personal circumstances has egged me on to do it. I bought my first bass and a little amp about 3-4 years ago but never really used it much. Now I've decided to have a proper try, I have bought a new bass which is also egging me on to get better, but when I play it on its own (no backing track) all I can hear is clanks and bad fretting I suppose I'll get there with practice. My old bass was of mongolian marine ply construction, it had a custard-bucker pickup and very very worn strings, so i suppose my mistakes were'nt picked up quite so well. The response from my new bass makes the sounds I create through it embarassing. I live in Lancashire, and I played rhythm guitar in a band many years ago- even performed in 1 gig! but thats as far as my experience goes. Been out of touch with playing anything for about 10 years really. My main type of music is old school indie, IE the roses, charlatans, smiths etc but I like all types of music, very varied. I've never had a music lesson in my life, I'm self taught (badly) at 6 string too, so expect some really dumbass questions about playing bass on here in the near future Great website you have here, I'm proud to be part of it. Peace Dan.
