awdl22125
I have been offered for a very good price a pair of bass cabs, 4x10 300w@8ohm and a 2x10 200w@8ohm. I run a Trace Elliot GP7 SM 300W and my question is, is there any point using both these cabs in parallel or sequence with this head or am I better off just taking the 4x10 on it's own? Dad3353
Your amp will deliver about 150w into either the 2x10 or 4x10 on their own, and about 250w into the 2 cabs in parallel. Having both cabs would then allow the flexibility of running the 2x10 in smaller venues, the 4x10 (louder...) in larger ones and both together (louder still...) in larger still venues. If this flexibility is useful to you, I'd recommend having both cabs, as you would then have the choice. Hope this helps; subject to correction, completion and/or contradiction from others. Bill Fitzmaurice
If you run them together each cab will receive the same power. That means each driver in the 2x10 will get twice that which those in the 4x10 do. For a correct match the impedance of the 2x10 should be twice that of the 4x10.
