warwickhunt
Now reduced to £450 Lightwave say... "The LightWave Pickup’s transparent response delivers harmonically rich, deep, and powerful sound, spanning a wide range of tones from pure, natural string sound, to super-aggressive and cutting edge with the use of EQ or signal processing. Extremely low noise characteristics eliminate the annoying background hum and buzz typical of conventional pickups, and with no magnetic field pulling on the strings, sustain is natural, like a Grand Piano. Highly sensitive to even the most subtle nuances, the LightWave Pickup delivers the true sound of the strings, the instrument, and your playing.Chambered Body." Excellent feeling, playing and sounding bass. If you've ever been frustrated by noise from pups/preamp or dodgy electrics then you'll be chuffed to bits as there is no issue with noise! It doesn't sound dissimilar to a trad magnetic pup loaded bass and tbh you'd genuinely not be able to hear a massive difference... other than no interference. It has piezo transducers as well as the sensors but this system can't be used solo, it needs to be blended (0-100%) with the other system. Comes supplied with the original Lightwave gigbag, TWO power supplies (one 240v UK, the other 110v) and instruction booklet, which includes how to set-up the sensors (this is a doddle with coloured LEDs to indicate when optimum); this means you can use any gauge/type of strings inc' nylon if you should wish. Very good condition other than one small chip through the black paint which is on the bottom of the bass and not visible from the front. Some light swirling on the front from fingers etc. The bass can be played for a full 12hrs before a recharge... I've tested this and it is exactly as the manufacturers state, in fact I charged it after 12hrs and it was still going strong! The bass can be played whilst charging (in emergency) but as it only takes a couple of hours to fully charge it's not been required to by me. Neck is maple topped with rosewood and the body is chambered so no weight issues. All pots and controls work crackle free, no issues with the bass. Price £600 + courier NOW £550 inc courier Edited January 3, 2015 by warwickhunt

warwickhunt
£450 + delivery cost. Just established that this is in fact an 'SA' model which predates the present models and has the hollow body of the later VL with the rosewood neck of the SL. A vid by the Bass Whisperer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDeov9S5AEo ...and a pic of the hand-signed control cavity (note the comments
