Had to resort to my trusty old Westfield back up bass recently and as the drop in clarity etc was a bit of a bummer, I've been looking at not-too-expensive replacement P bass pups. I found Wilkinson's MWPBs, ones from Axesrus and ones from a guitar chap called Entwistle all sub £30.

Any recommendations please, guys (and gals) ?

I've heard A LOT of good things about the Entwistle PBX/JBX series and even more good reviews on the PBXN/JBXN (Neodymium) pick ups. I'd personally go for those if you're looking for one sub-£30 as i think the PBXN comes in at £25. There's a review of them on this site under the reviews section, go check it out.

I like the look of the Entwistles, but I would also personally recommend GFS pickups from the States. When the conversion rate is good (as it is now) even with shipping costs they are very reasonable, and good quality.

Our very own Thunderbird has an Entwhistle one up for grabs at present:

Big plus one for entwistle neodymiums. I've got a PJ set and they are mega high output, with so much midrange on tap. The jazz pickups aren't noisy either which is obviously some kind of voodoo
