LITTLEWING
Had to resort to my trusty old Westfield back up bass recently and as the drop in clarity etc was a bit of a bummer, I've been looking at not-too-expensive replacement P bass pups. I found Wilkinson's MWPBs, ones from Axesrus and ones from a guitar chap called Entwistle all sub £30. Any recommendations please, guys (and gals) ? Biaeothanata-Bassist
I've heard A LOT of good things about the Entwistle PBX/JBX series and even more good reviews on the PBXN/JBXN (Neodymium) pick ups. I'd personally go for those if you're looking for one sub-£30 as i think the PBXN comes in at £25. There's a review of them on this site under the reviews section, go check it out. LITTLEWING
Cheers B-B, What great reviews, guess what I just may be purchasing!!
Biaeothanata-Bassist
Good choice mate, if those reviews are anything to go by then they'll be well worth it. Especially in a back up bass too. The bass I want the JBXN for is my back up live bass. If you get some soon, please put some samples up on here?
iiipopes
Occasionally used pickups of various brands or models in great shape pop up for sale on the forum.
Conan
I like the look of the Entwistles, but I would also personally recommend GFS pickups from the States. When the conversion rate is good (as it is now) even with shipping costs they are very reasonable, and good quality. Lozz196
Our very own Thunderbird has an Entwhistle one up for grabs at present: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/240331-brand-new-entwhistle-pbxn-p-bass-pickup/
chrismuzz
Big plus one for entwistle neodymiums. I've got a PJ set and they are mega high output, with so much midrange on tap. The jazz pickups aren't noisy either which is obviously some kind of voodoo
