Roland Rock
Here's a newly posted video of Mr Jenkinson's 'Solo Electric Bass' performance. I must say, I much prefer his electronic stuff, but thought some may be interested. http://youtu.be/gFWjkku2qjQ

BetaFunk
I've liked Tom Jenkinson's music from the very first Squarepusher LP and although i have the Solo Bass cd i much prefer his electronic stuff. Mind you i even tire rather quickly of someone like Victor Wooten and all that twiddly-diddly stuff.
Roland Rock
I think that the Solo Bass Guitar CD is the only Squarepusher album that I didn't bother buying - those three words 'Solo Bass Guitar' were enough to put me off, no matter how big a fan I am. I watched the first fifteen minutes odd of this show. Maybe it's because it was only on iPad speakers, but the whole thing seemed to be very upper-register, like guitar territory. Lots of flamenco-style chords and fingerpicking. Also not a fan of that half-fretted buzzy note thing that he seems so fond of. The more rhythmic and riff-based he became, the more I enjoyed it. Last time I saw him play, it was an hour and a half of fit-inducing bombardment-of-the-senses electronica, with a ten minute interlude for solo electric bass. That's more my kind of show. http://youtu.be/XvLAKrVbCBM Edited July 1, 2014 by Roland Rock
