markb88 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I'm on a hunt for new 2 piece bands - ideally just bass and drums. Any genre. - Already know about Death From Above 1979, Japanther, Royal Blood, Lightening Bolt etc. Any I should check out? Quote

KingBollock Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 The utterly bonkers Oaf! NSFW! http://youtu.be/fwkOmXsmNbc Dom Lawson is a proper lovely bloke. Quote
ZMech Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 The first few albums by The Black Keys, also The White Stripes. The Pair Extraordinaire also played just as a duo sometimes. Lastly, the bluesy duo I've recently started myself http://bluetales.bandcamp.com/ Quote
r16ktx Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I'll bet after those videos you've stopped looking... Quote

RhysP Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 (edited) One of my all-time favourite albums is the first album, "Monkey on a Chain Gang" by "House of Freaks", a guitar/drums two piece band. Saw them supporting Bob Mould in the late 80's when he was touring his "Workbook" album & thought they were fantastic. Here's a track from that album: They released other albums but I've always preferred the first one. Tragically the singer/guitarist, Bryan Harvey, was brutally murdered along with his wife & two young daughters by burglars at their home on New Years Day 2006. rOB Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Loads of suggestions and discussion here Quote
paulears Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Chas and Dave are a 3 piece - despite calling themselves a duo. Their drummer Mick retired and the drummer is now Chas's son, Nick. Having worked on their shows a few times over the years, the bass playing is underrated - damn tough set for Dave! Quote
Annoying Twit Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 The original They Might be Giants. Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (Andy McClusky played bass originally, which makes them more this-thread-friendly than other synth duos such as Erasure and The Pet Shop Boys). Quote
