Congrats dude, I am currently in the process of saving for this exact american standard p bass - maple, tortoise shell and olympic white. Love the pickups in this year's model! I Considered mystic red and sticking on a black pickguard, but mystic red has got nothing on candy apple red. And then there's the fact that this looks stunning!

Aye, the Mystic Red isn't great, especially in the flesh. I think Fender will dump the new-ish Red/Blue soon...both awful!

Fender, just please make American Standards in classic colours like LPB, sea foam green, fiesta red and sonic blue. You will sell a LOT.

No...I don't think so, I think there MAY be slight differences between manufacturers. I'm sure sea foam is lighter...I might be wrong!

Thing is though... because these colours are popular they will just keep limiting them to their more expensive basses.

There is no realistic chance of Fender offering those colours for their American Standard instruments any time in forseeable future. Fender are perfectly well aware of the demand for those colours , but they are also acutely aware of how useful those colours are as an incentive for people to buy their premium instruments, as are other manufacturers who are competitors in the same marketplace as Fender. It is just as easy for Fender to offer Fiesta Red as Mystic Red or Sea Foam Green instead of Jade Green , but very pointedly, they don't .

Sea Foam Green and Surf Green are essentially the same colour, by the way - foam is another word for surf in American English- but , as with any colour, one manufacturer's hue may be slightly different from another. I personally like the Bel Air Green that G&L use ( very similar to Sea Foam) , and I am not usually a fan of green basses, on the whole.

Yamaha Sea Foam, Peterbuilt Sea Foam and Fender FSR 2014 Sea Foam Pearl. Unlike Dingus I like green . There is a Squier in Burgundy Mist available. Hacks me off in PMT when you see Strats, Teles in the good colours but not basses. Meanwhile, back on thread, stunning white P, enjoy.

You're certainly right about the language barrier altering the recognition of the Greens. People are forever discussing the custom colours and correct names.

There actually was a DuPont colour that Fender used called Foam Green which is darker than Surf Green and was around at the same time. It's like Chinese whispers I guess and Foam green becomes Sea Foam Green but is actually Surf Green

Fender Custom Colours never cease to keep me on my toes.... (it beats watching sh*te TV).
